Washed Process
Washed coffee beans generally have a cleaner and more crisp flavor profile than naturally processed coffee. Preferred by people who like a more acidic and cleaner cup of coffee
-
The process begins by sorting through each cherry. Those that are unripe or have defects are discarded, those that are ripe move on to the next process
-
The pulp is completely removed from the cherry. This in return provides a cleaner flavor profile for the bean
-
All de-pulped beans are then placed into a fermentation tank where the mucilage (sticky membrane) is broken down from the natural yeasts and bacteria.
-
Beans are carefully washed to remove all remaining mucilage that remains. They are now ready to be dried.
-
Last but not least, the seeds are laid out in a bed to be dried in the sun before being bagged
